Restoration no.1

Varied dimensions ± 36 x 40 x 30
Found highchair, oak wood

This is a chair I found in poor condition, I fixed it and then dropped it from a building. Restoring and destroying the object is a narration about a symbolic piece of furniture and the performativities that it implies, instead of asking what kind of child is being raised, I ask: what kind of society is being raised by how we nurture children? Rebuilding the broken parts back into prototypes (scale models for different furniture) is a metaphor for other possible ways of being. More than an object it’s a methodology to articulate futures.
